Summer 2003: Producer/engineer Phil O'Keefe began pre-production with singer/songwriters Ralph Torres and John McGill on Ralph's solo CD project. O'Keefe's previous work with McGill on his Journey From La La CD allowed for a comfortable and productive mood and by October the three were working above and beyond the scope of the original disc. A partnership was in order...and Lurker was its name.
Lurker. It fit. Three guys a bit out of the mainstream but still keeping an eye on it. Not flavor of the month but certainly still working hard and nurturing a desire to de-lurk...to open the door and let some of this noise out of the studio and see who listens. So the effort moves forward. And from the Lurker HQ in the full and hazy center of Inland Southern California come plans for a series of special "limited edition" recordings with an emphasis on quality songwriting. Each release will be signed and numbered by the artist and available at live performances and selected retail outlets. The first official Lurker release is John McGill's Being There, a special four-song CD created in recognition of John's selection as a finalist in the 2004 Kerrville New Folk Emerging Songwriters Competition. Soon to follow are offerings from the other Lurkers. You're invited to listen in... |
